CHARLTON – Veronica D. (Clemmey) Fournier Sloat, 76, of Charlton, died on June 20, 2025 at Harrington Hospital, Southbridge.
Veronica was born and raised in Sutton, MA and was a Sutton High School graduate of 1966. Later moving to Worcester, Brookfield, then Charlton where she resided for 50 years. Veronica worked at Masonic Home in Charlton as a PCA, then a waitress at various restaurants, and retiring as a cashier from Stop & Shop in Sturbridge MA in 2016.
Veronica outlived both her ex-husbands by more than 9 years. The better one always goes last! She is also predeceased by her parents, Thomas Sr. and Mae (Brown) Clemmey, and her siblings, Margie Brown, Marlin Longo, Thomas “Buddy” Clemmey and Paul Clemmey, being the youngest of her family. She is also predeceased by three of her best friends, her nephew Chipper Brown, niece Linda Barriere and Karen Moore. The trouble they will be getting into again being together can be left to your imagination.
She leaves six sons, Pat Fournier and Scott Fournier of Hollywood Beach FL, Alan Fournier of Charlton, Jamie Fournier and his wife Erin of Spencer, Thomas Fournier and his wife Cindy of Sutton, and Jack Sloat of Charlton; eight grandchildren, Korey, Nathan, Kylii, Victoria, Cody, Carly Mae, Melody and Arabella; six great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Sophia, Sequioa, Dakota, Laylah and Dakota; and two great-grandchildren due this year. Besides leaving behind her six sons, Veronica will be remembered as a great cousin and the best auntie by many nieces and nephews.
Veronica always enjoyed being around family. Whether it was going to her sister Margie’s in Brookfield for the weekly cookout, up to her brother Paul’s in Rochdale for a couple cups of coffee and every birthday party she could make it to. She enjoyed sitting at the table watching the different birds at the bird feeder, covering her walls with hundreds of pictures of family and friends, sewing and putting puzzles together.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 9:30 – 11:00 am at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester, followed by a graveside service and burial at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
Due to the tremendous care and passion from the nurses and PCAs on Floor 2 at Harrington Hospital during our mother’s stay, the family wishes donations to be in their honor to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org). Thank you for such great care!
The family asks you to dress comfortably for Veronica’s day of resting, as it may be over 90 degrees.
