Stephen W. Hemming

WORCESTER – Stephen W. Hemming, 65, of Worcester, died Friday, March 31, 2023 at UMass Memorial – University Campus after a brief illness.

He leaves behind his beloved sister Janda and many dear family and friends.  He was born in Vicenza, Italy, son of the late Daniel W. and Janet D. (Magee) Hemming.  He was raised in Rochester, New York. Steve then attended and graduated from Ithaca College in 1981. Shortly after college Steve moved to Brookfield, Connecticut, where he worked at Union Carbide for over 17 years. He then moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, and worked at WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute) for 19 years.  Most recently, Steve was working at Leicester Middle School.

Steve had a beautiful sense of humor. He really enjoyed working with the kids and staff in the schools he worked at.  He also enjoyed being with people, including his church groups.  He loved jazz music, attending festivals, nature, hiking, and traveling. Most of all he loved God.

Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:30 am at Higgins House at WPI, 1 John Wing Road, Worcester, MA 01609, and on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Blvd, Rochester, NY 14625.
