WAYLAND - Roberta Ingham Wambolt, 82, of Wayland, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2022, after bravely battling long term sickness. She is survived by her son Douglas Wambolt and his wife Beth of Marlboro, and grandchildren Heather, Peter, and Ryan; son Mark Wambolt Sr and his wife Sue of Southborough, and grandchildren Mark Jr., Scott, Courtney, and Hailey; son Craig Wambolt and his wife Doreen of Berlin, and grandchildren Charli, Devin, and Cody; daughter Elizabeth Wambolt and grandchildren Lindsay, Trevor, and Abby; along with 10 grandchildren's spouses and 16 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Alden R. Wambolt, better known as Ozzie.
Roberta was born on 1/13/40 in Waltham, MA, to Helen Huston Ingham and Robert M Ingham. She graduated from Newton High School and went on to attend the Framingham teachers college. After graduating, Roberta founded Community Nursery School of Wayland in 1965, while raising four active children. For 55 years, Roberta devoted herself to families through her work at CNS, making an impact on generations of children.
Together with Ozzie, they led youth groups in Wayland, South Boston and at the Methodist Church in Waltham where the couple originally met. In 1978, while raising their four teenagers, the family joined The Greater Grace Christian Fellowship of Framingham (now Marlboro) where Roberta would go on to teach Sunday school for decades. When she wasn’t teaching, Roberta aka Nana, would be actively loving and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and baking her famous blueberry and coconut cream pies.
Roberta undoubtedly had a servant’s heart. She was the matriarch of a large family where she exemplified unity and faith within the ever-growing family tree. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loved ones and watching them grow up. Even while in a hospital bed during her last days she would light up and smile when her boys would banter back and forth and tease each other or when her daughter would fix her hair.
