MILLBURY - Robert Francis Jakubiak, 76, of Millbury, passed away on Sunday May 14th, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus after a long illness.
He leaves behind five children: Marie G. Jakubiak-Shorette, of North Grafton, Jessica L. Jakubiak, Michael J. Jakubiak, Jeffrey J. Jakubiak and his partner Laura Lohnes of Millbury, and Johnathan Westfall of Worcester; his grandchildren: Matthew, Mallory, Anthony, Jazzy, Tiana, Mark and Caitlynn; his great-grandchildren: Lukis, Timothy Jr., Jordan and Waylon; beloved nephew: Bobby Jakubiak of Arizona and many more nephews and nieces; good friends: Richard Chysna of Worcester, Pat and Charlie of Rhode Island and John Shorette Jr. of Millbury. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony F. “Cappy” Jakubiak of Worcester and Genevieve Elizabeth (Krawczyk) Jakubiak of Webster, his brother, Ronald S. Jakubiak of Worcester, his son, Ronald A. Jakubiak of Millbury and his former wife, Rita M. (LeBlanc) Jakubiak of Millbury. He was born in Worcester on August 24th, 1946 and lived most of his life in Millbury. Robert graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, class of 1965 as an electrician.
Robert worked for Rexnord in Worcester, MA and Cranston Print Works in Webster, MA as their head electrician for many years. Robert was a hard worker, mechanical thinker and could solve any intricate problem. “Jack of all trades - master of none” as he stated comically.
Bob was always the life of the party, no matter who you were he always made you feel comfortable in his presence. There was never a dull moment, his jokester comments always had you laughing. He never swayed away to giving anyone a helping hand - came very natural to him.
He enjoyed his daily trips to get his lottery tickets and watching his favorite movies, “Perry Mason”, “Murder She Wrote”, “Columbo” and “Law and Order”. He loved lobster and clams. In his younger years you could always hear him in the cellar playing his drums, but he sure could play a damn good steering wheel drum beat in his VEGA. Every Halloween at his house was a spectacular light show - along with one of his scary costumes.
His famous catch phrases: “Well I’ll tell you pilgrim”, “I’ll be back”, “That’s all folks” will be imprinted in us forever.
He was always so thankful for his son Jeffrey’s continuous dedication to his care and well-being; always making sure his dad's needs were met, through all the ups and downs, sticking by his side, like two peas in a pod.
The family would like to thank Laura for helping our dad these last few years; we truly appreciate you.
He will be missed sorely by his family and all who knew him.
