Robert Emonds Obituary

WORCESTER - Robert P. "Bob" Emonds, 86, of Worcester passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018, with dignity, grace and at peace in his home after a short illness.  He was surrounded by his wife Joan and step-daughter Nancy and her husband Richard Casey. The family rallied in support and care at the family homestead during his illness.

He leaves his adoring wife and best friend of nearly 30 years; married 26 years, Joan (Chartier) Hillier Emonds. They are kindred spirits that were joined by God who blessed them in Holy Matrimony.  Daddy-Bob leaves six stepchildren and spouses to whom he was very close: David Hillier (Lynn), Susan Hillier, Nancy Casey (Richard), Linda Hillier, Paul Hillier, and Marie Neff (Wayne); his step-grandchildren, Shawn Casey, Elisabeth Casey, Richard Casey, Marissa Casey, Adam Stone, and Janelle Hillier.  He also leaves his step-great-grandchildren, Elysia Casey and Joey Casey, Gabriella Casey, Emma Casey, Dylan and Jacob Casey; his sister Ann Wojatalik of Florida and his niece Anne Blanco of Douglas.  He also leaves his special cat Twinkie.

Bob was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (Casey) Emonds in 1988, his brother Harold Emonds, a sister Florence Brown, and his step-great-granddaughter Mariah Casey. He was born in Farnumsville, South Grafton, son of Ora (St. Onge) and Gregory Emonds.  He attended Worcester Boy's Trade and graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bob spent four years in the United States Air Force, Sergeant 1st Class, stationed in Hahn, Germany, Korea, and Tripoli.  He was a member of the 81st Fighter Bomber Squadron.  He worked at Worcester Regional Airport as an airplane mechanic for 6 years.  He retired after 36 years of service as General Foreman at the Worcester Department of Public Works.

His hobbies included HO Railroading, camping and travel, gardening, and mechanics.  A man of few words, Bob was quiet and reserved, but also warm and caring. May he receive everlasting rest in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers Jeffrey Woods, Jeane Katubi and Stacy Zimov and the Beacon Hospice of Leominster.
