WORCESTER – Rishi Prashad, 72, of Worcester, died Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife, Drew Drupatti, three sons, Jason Prashad of New Jersey, Jai Prashad and Raj Prashad, both of Georgia; a daughter, Marylin Prashad of Seattle, WA; four sisters, Diana “Dee” Prashad of Holden, Olga Ramchand of Worcester, Pamela Harris of California, and Joyce Gedraitis of Worcester; three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Basil Santram, Bissoon Dat “Sun Sun” Prashad, and Krishna Prashad; two sisters, Doris Prashad and Rita Prashad, who died as a child. He was born in La Bonne Intention, Guyana, South America, son of Jagnandan and Boodnie (Maraj) Prashad. He previously lived in Manhattan and Queens, New York before moving to Worcester.
Rishi was an inmate counselor in the prison system. He was very kind, he shared all that he had, and was a meticulous dresser.
Rishi’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Ellen Rogers Kennedy Chapel at Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove St, Worcester, followed by cremation. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
