CHERRY VALLEY – Richard Zamoita, 88, of Cherry Valley, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at home.

His wife of 62 years, Barbara H. (Field) Zamoita, died in 2020.  He leaves a son, Richard J. Zamoita and his girlfriend Deborah Roberge of Worcester; a daughter, Kathleen A. Thibaudeau of Charlton; a son-in-law, Gary Sundquist of Spencer; two granddaughters, Samantha and her husband Jay Herrmann of Charlton and Marissa Thibaudeau of Charlton; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah M. Sundquist, a brother, Stanley Zamoita, and a sister, Regina O’Neill.  He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Sophie (Baron) Zamoita.

Richard was a diesel engine repair mechanic at International Harvester and Dario Diesel for many years.

He loved to tell stories.  He enjoyed working around his yard and repairing and maintaining family and friends’ cars.  He was a kind, sweet man.  He loved his family, loved to eat and liked tagging along to social events with his late wife. 

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 10:00 am at Pine Grove Cemetery, 208 Pine St, Leicester.  Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
