Richard C. Gallant

WORCESTER- Richard C. Gallant, 72, of Worcester, died Monday, December 13,2021 at home, with his wife by his side.

He leaves his wife of 22 years, Jessica (Gazo) Gallant, three brothers, Robert Gallant and his wife Jan of Amherst, Mark and his wife Angela of Worcester, and Raymond of Western Mass; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Roger and Gerald Gallant.  He was born in Worcester, son of Leo P. Gallant and Yvonne L. (Dolbec) Gallant Martel.  He graduated from Boston University and received a Masters’ Degree at Clark University.

Richard was a professor of English at Worcester State College and Clark University.  He retired in 2014.  He enjoyed reading, music, and traveling.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at St. John’s Church, 44 Temple St, Worcester.   Please go directly to the church.  Calling hours are 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, December 17 at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WCUW Radio, 910 Main St, Worcester, MA 01610 (wcuw.org/donate).
