WORCESTER – Michael F. Rizzuti, 85, who lived in the Grafton Hill area of Worcester most of his life, died Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at UMass Memorial – Memorial Campus, after an illness.
His wife, Joanne M. (Lamoreaux) Rizzuti, died in 1968. He leaves four children: Rev Michael J. Rizzuti and his wife Kathy of Brooklyn, CT, Sandra Trotto and her husband Tony of Auburn, Rev Joseph. J. Rizzuti of Worcester, Joann Mallet and her husband Maurice of Worcester; a sister, Lois Buffone and her husband James of Worcester; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his loving companion Joan Matthews of over 20 years and her family which he loved dearly. He is predeceased by a son, William A. Rizzuti, four sisters, Eleanor Todd, Patricia Pellerin, Janet Iacovone and Joanne Scampini. He was born in Holden, son of the late William and Nellie (Bowns) Rizzuti.
Michael was a truck driver for the Local 170 Teamsters Union. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Brown Square Civic Club, Post 371 American Legion, Clearview Country Club, Strawberry Hills Country Club, and the Cornerstone Bible Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman, loved golfing, being in the sun at his Florida home, and loved spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 10: 00 am in Cornerstone Bible Baptist Church, 889 Southbridge St, Auburn. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
