WORCESTER – Margaret Elin (O’Donnell) Derickson, 88, of Naples, Florida, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Rose Monahan Hospice, Worcester after being stricken ill while visiting her family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Sam DeSantis after 45 years of marriage in 2000. Her second husband of 2 years, James Derickson, died in 2006. She leaves five children, Susan Kozicz and her husband Richard, Mark DeSantis and his wife Jill, Nancy DeSantis and her husband Kent Walters, Robert DeSantis and his wife Lisa Johnson, and John DeSantis; nine grandchildren, Lindsay Kozicz, Natavi Kozicz, Matthew DeSantis, Brian DeSantis, Sara Correll, Cal Bigari, Alyssa DeSantis, Emily DeSantis, and Bobby DeSantis; four great-grandchildren, Emma Correll, Peter Correll, Hannah and Madison Correll. She was born in Olean, NY, daughter of Manus and Margaret (Rouleau) O’Donnell. She earned her Masters’ Degree at NY Post College in NY.
Margaret was a school nurse at James Wilson Young High School in Bayport, NY for many years before retiring in 1995 and moving to Naples, Florida. She enjoyed singing in the choir at North Naples Methodist Church. She also liked playing bridge, reading, playing the piano, bowling, playing and watching tennis, acting in community theatre productions and traveling around the world. She was an adventurous woman who lived her life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
