WORCESTER – Lucille T. (Baril) Belliveau, 97, of Worcester, died Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St, Worcester.

Her husband of 45 years, Leo F. Belliveau, died in 1996.  She leaves eight children, Francis L. Belliveau and his wife Lusa of South Windsor, CT, Philip L. Belliveau of Worcester, George A. Belliveau and his wife Peris of Worcester, Suzanne J. Haggerty and her husband Patrick of Cushing, MN, John G. Belliveau and his wife Karen of Worcester, Mark Belliveau and his wife Darlene of Millbury, Daniel P. Belliveau of East Brookfield, and Paul A. Belliveau and his wife Kathleen of Auburn; a sister, Rita Jolly of Niantic, CT; a brother-in-law, Henry Suchodolski of Shrewsbury; a sister-in-law, Theresa Baril of Auburn; twelve grandchildren, Lori, Adam, David, Sammy, Lana, John, Grant, Brenda, Jodi, Jack, Zachary, and Jolene; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Normand and David G. Baril, a sister, Constance Suchodolski and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Belliveau.   She was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert A. and Regina M. (Taschereau) Baril.  She lived in Worcester most of her life.  She and her husband Leo also lived in Ocala, Florida for 5 years after their retirement.

Lucille graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse at City Hospital and other places.  She was a Cub Scout Den Leader (Troop 49), was involved with the 4H Club and was a member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church.  She was later a member of Christ the King Church and its Golden Age Club.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and spending time with family.

When COVID first hit, Lucille remembered working on a pediatric Polio ward as a young nurse.  She recalled how heart-breaking it was to see those children wasting away without much that she could offer to ease their suffering.  Her thoughts and prayers went out to those caregivers at the time to hope that they would be able to handle the emotional and physical strain that they were dealing with.
