Leona Anderson Obituary

LEICESTER – Leona R. “Lee” (Deschenes) Anderson, 76, of Leicester, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was a loving mother to her son Carl Everett Anderson and his wife Joann of Sudbury, VT.  She was the eldest sister to 5 siblings of a very close-knit French Catholic family growing up in Worcester: three brothers, Paul H. Deschenes of Oxford, Normand Deschenes and his wife Lynda of Charlton, and Gerard Deschenes of Manchaug, MA; and two sisters, Pauline Anderson and her husband Robert of Leicester and Anita Joslin of Livermore Falls, ME; many nieces and nephews.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of Harvey J. and Rosanna (Robidoux) Deschenes.

Lee was a clerk and administrative assistant at Verizon for many years.  She was a devoted member of her church community at St. Aloysius in Rochdale where she discovered a love for singing in the choir.  She often reminisced about her love for square dancing and southwestern life from her years of living in Arizona.  After returning to her roots in Massachusetts, she forged a strong bond with all her family including several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.  Lee was also fondly remembered as the gifter of her famous homemade Christmas time fudge to all her beloved friends and family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, May 24, 2021 at St Aloysius - St. Jude Parish, 489 Pleasant St, Leicester, burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester . Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
