WORCESTER – Kristaq Tiko, 86, of Worcester, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 4, 2022 at UMass Memorial – University Campus.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Sofika (Kallfa) Tiko, two sons, Bernardo Tiko of Worcester and Renato Tiko of Worcester, a daughter, Gerta Gjanci of Worcester; five grandchildren, Nikola Gjanci, Steven Gjanci, Kristian Tiko, Sofia Tiko, and David Tiko. He was born in Korce, Albania, son of Ligor and Dhone (Gjilo) Tiko, and has lived here for over 26 years. He graduated from the University of Tirana, Albania.
Kristaq was a high school teacher in Albania, teaching biochemistry. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching. He was very appreciative of all that the United States had to offer he and his family and was very happy that he decided to immigrate here.
A funeral will be held at 10 :00 am on Friday, April 8, 2022 in St. Mary's Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, April 7 at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave.
