WORCESTER - José A. Betancourt, age 81, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, predeceased by his wife, Neida Cordova, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage until her passing in 2015.

José is survived by his three sons, Edwin, José, and Carlos Betancourt of Worcester: his six daughters, Anabell Gonzalez and her husband Edwin of Florida, Midali, Iraida, Omayra, and Anabelle Betancourt, of Worcester, Neida Daughtry and her husband William of Worcester.  He also leaves behind 35 beloved Grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also predeceased by his daughter, Ivette Fuentes, and her husband, Arturo, as well as his Grandson, Eduardo Fonseca.  Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, José was the son of the late Nazario Betancourt and Elisa Anduce.

José relocated to the Bronx, New York, in 1984 from Puerto Rico, where he worked as a sanitation worker for the New York City Department of Sanitation. Later, José moved to Worcester, Massachusetts with his wife Neida and their children, and lived there for 22 years.

José enjoyed listening to music, going out for meals, entertaining his family with jokes, and feeding the neighborhood birds three times a day.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, November 24, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
