John Leo Parenteau, 95, formerly of 440 Park Ave., died yesterday in Marlboro Hospital, Marlboro.
His wife, Louise (Champigny) Parenteau, died in 1975. He leaves a step-daughter, Marion Pelkey of Northboro.
Mr. Parenteau was a machinist at Crompton & Knowles Corp. 26 years, retiring in 1959. He was an Army veteran of World War I and had been commander of the former World War I Barracks, Post 298. Mr. Parenteau also was a member of Holy Name of Jesus parish.
He was born in South Grafton, the son of Napoleon and Mary (Champagne) Parenteau, ahd lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a patient at Thornton Nursing Home in Northboro the past three years.
The funeral will be held Friday from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to the memorial fund of Holy Name of Jesus Church, 01603.
