OAKHAM - With deep sorrow we announce the passing of John A. Bohdiewicz, who, after a tremendous battle with cancer, left us on February 6, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Worcester, MA, on November 21, 1948, son of John and Sophie (Kowaleski) Bohdiewicz. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness and love touched the lives of many.
He was a proud graduate of Burncoat High School, Class of 1966. Following his graduation, John honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His dedication and service to his country were a source of great pride throughout his life.
John dedicated his career to the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a supervisor at both the Central Street, Worcester location and later the Mail Processing Center in Shrewsbury. Over the course of 33 years, his strong work ethic, leadership, and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends.
After retiring from the Postal Service he continued serving his community with compassion as a funeral assistant for Joey’s Limousine Service and many area funeral homes. His warm presence and willingness to help others brought comfort to countless families during difficult times.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Susan (Soter) Bohdiewicz; a son, Sean M. Bohdiewicz and his wife Meghan of Auburn; a daughter, Andrea M. Bohdiewicz of Oakham; and his treasured granddaughters Emma and Sofia Bohdiewicz, whom he adored. He also leaves behind a brother, Dr. Paul Bohdiewicz and his wife Ronda of Bloomfield, MI; a sister, Maryanne Sabat and her husband John of Merrimack, NH; his sister-in-law, Nancy Richardson and her husband Mark of Holden; and his sister-in-law, Joanne Soter-Kenadek of Millbury, as well as his niece Tesia Turner of Merrimack, NH and his nephew Joseph Sabat of Portsmouth, NH. His loyal Golden Retriever Maggie was always by his side. Family was at the center of John’s life, and he found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones.
An avid traveler, John loved vacationing with his family and friends, creating cherished memories in Puerto Rico, Aruba, and on cruises. Whether exploring new places or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, he embraced life with enthusiasm and love.
John’s strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit throughout his battle with cancer were a testament to the courage with which he lived his life. His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Edwin Choy, Director of the Sarcoma Oncology Program, along with his team, for their exceptional care and support.
