WORCESTER – Joanne E. (Scott) Jijon, 73, of Worcester, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home.

She leaves two sons, Michael E. Scott of Dracut and Luis F. Jijon Jr. of Worcester, a daughter, Elisa M. Jijon and her husband George Muniz of Worcester, a brother, James Scott and his wife Ann of Barre, a sister, Linda Whitman of Bangor, Maine, five grandchildren, Nevaeh, George Jr., Ge’Andre,  Elysa and Amir, a great-grandson, Steffon, several nieces and nephews.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of Earl R. and Theresa Y. (Houle) Scott.

Joanne was a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She worked at several area nursing homes, including the Lutheran Home and St. Mary Health Care Center. 

She enjoyed her Boston sports teams, especially attending Red Sox games.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, dancing and singing.  She loved her Pleasant St SDA family.  She was an active member of the Neighbor To Neighbor Program in Worcester, always available to help anyone who needed her.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and keeping tabs on all their sporting endeavors.  She enjoyed keeping in touch through Facebook with all her friends.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 10:00 am at Pleasant Street Seventh-day Adventist Church, 370 Pleasant St, Worcester, with viewing at the church from 9:30 – 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
