Jeannette Baillargeon Obituary

WORCESTER - Jeannette C. (Verville) Baillargeon, 97, of Worcester, died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Mary Health Center, 39 Queen St.

Her husband of 45 years, Paul H. Baillargeon, died in 1998.  She leaves two sons, Henri Baillargeon of Holland. MA and Robert Baillargeon of Brimfield; three daughters, Louise Astuccio of Florida, Therese Hillman of Sturbridge and Claire Groccia of Florida; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by her daughter Rita Tetreault.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Eloi and Grace (Desmarais) Verville and lived in Sturbridge, MA for many years.   She received an associate’s degree in nursing at the former Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH.

Jeannette was a registered nurse at Harrington Hospital and at a private duty nursing agency.  She was also a reserve officer in the Sturbridge Police Department and was the first female selectman elected and re-elected in Sturbridge.  She operated Lakeshore Bed & Breakfast on South Pond in Sturbridge for ten years, and also raised six kids.  She was a longtime member of St. Anne and St. Patrick's Church, Fiskdale, MA.  She enjoyed her family and world travel.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at 10:00 am at St Anne’s Church, 16 Church St, Fiskdale.    Private burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Fiskdale.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Mary Health Care Center, 39 Queen St, Worcester, MA 01610 (stmaryhc.com/ways-to-give).  Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
