WORCESTER – Jamil Ali Punch Sr., 64, of Worcester, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at home.

He leaves behind his son, Jamil Ali Punch Jr.; his daughter, Shanell Linda Punch; his former wife, Linda Grant (Punch) of Macon, Georgia; his son’s wife, Shimain Punch, along with his stepchildren and step-grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth Punch Osei; and two brothers, Eric Punch and Melvin Punch.  He was predeceased by his brother, Elohm A. “Al” Punch Sr., as well as his parents, Fred A. Punch and Laurabeth (Williams) Punch.

Jamil was born in the Bronx, New York, on February 18, 1960. He graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in 1978 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, where he became certified as a combat medic. After an honorable discharge, he continued his commitment to helping others as an EMT for New York City for approximately a decade. Later, he transitioned into a career as a commercial truck driver and pursued real estate ventures.

Jamil was a man of intellect and curiosity. He enjoyed playing chess, engaging in philosophical discussions, and encouraging those around him to think critically. He valued family, knowledge, and community, always willing to offer support—whether through provisions, shelter, or a listening ear.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 6, at 2:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA.   Calling hours will be private.  Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
