MILLBURY – James J. Patenaude Sr, 74, of Millbury, died Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at UMass Memorial – University Campus, surrounded by his family.

His wife of 37 years, Cynthia E. (Lizotte) Patenaude, died in 2010.   He leaves a son, James J. Patenaude, Jr. of Millbury, two daughters, Tammy L. Patenaude of Ellsworth, WI and Helen M. Mitchell and her husband Matthew Kelly, also of Ellsworth, WI; two sisters, Judy Clark and her husband Denny of Worcester, and Joanie Sampson and her husband Douglas of Worcester; his son-in-law, Michael Light of Florida; his longtime companion of 13 years, Karen Hennessey of Millbury; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Christie Lucier Light, a brother, John J. Patenaude Jr, and two sisters, Janet Rawlston and Jane M. Brick.  He was born in Worcester, son of John J. and Marion L. (Brunett) Patenaude.

James worked as a die maker and machinist at Robinson Thread Company.  He enjoyed watching Westerns, visiting the casino, and driving for Uber.  He especially enjoyed spending time and reminiscing with his family.

Funeral services are private and in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
