WORCESTER - James “Jim” Healey, age 79, joined the afterlife June 13, 2026 after a 7-year battle with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Denise Gosselin Healey. He was the son of the late James F. Healey and Rose Healey. He was also predeceased by a close relative Lillian Halpin, and his sister-in-law Jeannine Brady.
Besides his wife, Jim leaves behind his brother-in-law Paul Gosselin, brother-in-law David Gosselin and his wife Angela, and 4 nieces and 3 nephews and 6 grand-nieces and 1 grand- nephew.
Jim was employed as a Registered Nurse working for the Department of Mental Health for many years. Prior to working as a Registered Nurse, Jim was employed as a Respiratory Therapist and a grade school teacher. Jim enjoyed bowling as a senior and achieved a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed travel, but especially enjoyed Old Orchard Beach. He loved animals and volunteered for several dog rescues.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston on Sunday, July 12 from 11am - 3pm. All family and friends are invited to enjoy lunch and to explore the beautiful gardens in Jim's honor. In his memory, contributions can be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League (worcesterarl.org). Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave.
