Guy Bouckaert Obituary

WORCESTER - Guy (Guido) Bouckaert, 96, of Worcester MA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 24, 2025.  Born in Roeselare, Belgium on February 4, 1929 to the late Victor and Maria (Fierens) Bouckaert, he immigrated to Chicago, Illinois on Dec 9, 1951 with his late wife, Mary (Braet) Bouckaert, who predeceased him in 1998.


Guy is survived by his wife of 25 years Therese Adams, his children, Christine Gentile of Worcester, Thomas Bouckaert and his wife Alycyn of Woonsocket, RI; Cindy Armour and husband John of San Jose, CA; Cathy Lavin and her partner Bradley of Gardner and Johnnie Bouckaert and wife Colleen of Worcester. Guy was a loving Boompa to 16 grandchildren; Timothy Armour (Emily); Katelyn Orsi (Chase); Eric Gentile; Christopher Bouckaert (Katherine); Julianna Tuttle; Carolyn Gentile; Dominic Lavin; Jennifer Bouckaert (Margarita); Stephen Armour (Shannon); Michael Bouckaert (Andrea); Patrick Lavin; Michelle Bumb (Steven); Amy Gentile; Mathew Armour; Nicholas Armour (Easton) and Maggie Bouckaert. He was a loving Great-Boompa to 31. Guy is also survived by two sisters, Lutgarde and Godelieve, both of Belgium, along with many nieces, nephews and other family. He was predeceased by his brother, Albrecht.



Guy was known as a devoted and loving father and Boompa. In his youth he played professional soccer in Belgium, was involved in theater and in the Belgian Army. After immigrating to the US, he spent 20 years raising his family in Chicago, IL, proudly becoming a US citizen in 1959. He moved his family to Northborough MA in 1971, where he was very proud of his work in textiles, opening a textile mill in Woonsocket, RI with his sons in 1988. An active member of the Church, he sang in the choir at St Rose of Lima in Northborough for many years before joining the choir at St. Josephs in Worcester. In his retirement, he loved to travel, play and watch golf, play cards and cribbage and spending time with his family, always having a soft spot for the babies.

A wake with calling hours will be held at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5pm - 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11am at St Joseph’s Church on 35 Hamilton St, Worcester. Entombment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, on Webster St in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Joseph’s Church, Worcester; or a charity of your choice.
