She was born September 25, 1932 in Worcester, daughter of Edmond A. “Red” and Germain M. (Lacombe) Jette.
Gertrude worked at the College of the Holy Cross for 35 years in the Graphic Arts Department with her loving husband. After her retirement, she enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble and Words with Friends, and doing the crossword puzzle. Over the years she has loved the family pitch games, knitting amazing sweaters and blankets, and going to lunch with her friends. Most of all she loved her family, and being the matriarch that held them all together, including during holidays and the Roy Family Vacations in New Hampshire, a tradition that held for 40 years!
One of Gert’s favorite songs was J’irai La Voir Un Jour
Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel
J'irai la voir un jour
Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel
J'irai la voir un jour
In heaven, in heaven, in heaven
I will go see her one day
In heaven, in heaven, in heaven
I will go see her one day
The family is sincerely appreciative of the wonderful medical care provided to Gert over the years, and particularly during the last days of her life. She understood the importance of training good health care professionals, and as such she has donated her body to the UMass Chan Medical School Anatomical Gift program.
