WORCESTER - Gardeen (Turner) Carter, 81 of Worcester died Monday, November 13, 2023 at home after a period of declining health.
She leaves two daughters, Denise Jackson and Lisa Carter, both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Jennifer Forbes of New Hampshire, Scott Jackson and his girlfriend Jenna Brown, and Amanda Sivanthong and her husband Kevin; eight great-grandchildren: Scott, Mariah, Love, Jayden, Leighland, Alexis, Dakoda, and Sadie. She also leaves a longtime companion, Ernest Bates; ten sisters, Willie Dell Oliver, Lovie Turner, Almetter Bethune, Minnie Lawrence, all of Worcester, Daisy English, Rachel Smith, Betty Johnson, Lillie Gail Young, Verdell Turner, Mona Lisa and husband Larry all of Eufaula, Alabama, and 2 brothers, Jamie Turner of New York and Walter Turner of Eufaula, Alabama. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Carter Sr, her son Lawrence Carter Jr, her son-in-law Scott Jackson, her four brothers: AC, Donnell, Alex, and Charles Turner, and her sister Catherine Pinlon. Gardeen was born in Eufaula, Alabama, daughter of the late Todd and Willie Mae (Culver) Turner, and has lived here 60-plus years.
Gardeen was a stitcher at Brown Shoe Company. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Gardeen accepted Christ at an early age at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Bakerhill, Alabama.
Gardeen’s family would like to thank her two devoted caregivers, Kimberly Tunwagun and Sharon Turner.
Calling hours will be on Monday, November 20, 2023 from noon-1:30 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester, with prayers at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
