Evelyn Mae (Auger) McTigue

WORCESTER - Evelyn Mae (Auger) McTigue, 89, of Worcester, died Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Life Care Center of Auburn, after a short illness.

Born in Northborough, MA to the late Melvin A. and Eva E. (Labossiere) Auger.

She leaves her children David (Christine) of Charlton, Daniel (Lisa) and Douglas of Worcester. She also leaves six grandchildren, Joseph, Mattthew, Amy, Kenneth, and Nathan McTigue, and Millie Normandin; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by two sons, Donald McTigue Jr. and Darren McTigue, her late former husband Donald “Sonny” McTigue Sr, a grandson Daniel McTigue, as well a sister Elaine McShane and five brothers, Clifford, Elvin, David, Robert, Richard and Howard Auger.  She was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law Judy Desroches.

While she raised her five boys in Worcester, Evelyn worked as an Intake Counselor for the Worcester Head Start program.  She also worked for Pernet Family Health as Thrift Store Manager and at Island Attire where she helped many families in need.

Evelyn was a woman of grace.  She was known for giving good advice, but only when asked for it.  Her children credit her with words of wisdom they carry with them in life.   Evelyn's strength and positive attitude were always an inspiration to those who knew her. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Auburn for the care and kindness Evelyn experienced there. 

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Avenue, Worcester, followed by a prayer service at 5:30 pm.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pernet Family Health Service, 237 Millbury St., Worcester, MA 01610.
