Ernest J. Gilchrist, 77, of 3 Hampden St. died Tuesday in St. Vincent Hospital.
He leaves a brother, Thomas F. Gilchrist; two nephews, David G. and Thomas F. Gilchrist Jr., all of Worcester; four nieces, Marilyn F. Gouin of Spencer, Kathleen A. Gilchrist of Worcester, Sheila E. Gilchrist of Greenville, N.H., and Faye T. Fafard of New Ipswich, N.H.; and grandnephews and grandnieces. He was born in Manchester, N.H., a son of Owen J. and Lillian V. (Carney) Gilchrist, and lived in Worcester many years.
Mr. Gilchrist was an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. 25 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral parish.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 tonight. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 7315 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD.
