Dorothy Bottomley Obituary

WORCESTER – Dorothy Ann (Gaine) Bottomley, 86, of Worcester, died Monday, October 12, 2020 at Hermitage Healthcare Center, Worcester.

Her husband William P. Bottom, a Korean War veteran, died in 1970.  She leaves two sons, William Bottomley and his wife Gina of Worcester, and Robert Bottomley and his wife Natalie of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren, Steven Bottomley and Patrick Girard of New Hampshire and Nicola, Robert, Kevin, and Alexandra Bottomley of Ohio.  She was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Bottomley in 2000, and by three brothers, William Gaine Jr., Harold Gaine, and Edward Gaine, also veterans.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of William J. and Nora F. (Scully) Gaine.  Her parents immigrated from Ireland.  Her mother was a nurse and her father was a fireman in Worcester.

Dorothy was a secretary in the Worcester School system for many years.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 12:30 pm at St. John Cemetery, Worcester, section St. Joan of Arc.  Calling hours will be Thursday from 10:00 am to noon at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave, Waltham, MA 02451 (https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate).
