SUTTON – Daniel E. Rice, 72, of Sutton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at UMass Memorial – University Campus.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Claudette J. (Emond) Rice; a sister, Susan Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; four brothers, Mark Rice of Madera, CA, Joseph Rice of Northborough, James Rice of Worcester, and Robert Rice of Whitinsville; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel M. and Rita J. (Pustis) Rice.  He graduated from North High School in Worcester.

Daniel was a firefighter for the City of Worcester, stationed at Park Ave on Engine 4, Ladder 7 and Aerial Scope 3.  He also served on the Sutton Housing Authority and enjoyed beekeeping. 

Calling hours will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.  Burial will be private.  Donations in Daniel’s name may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital in Boston, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114 (shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations/boston).
