Catherine M. (Maillet) Trahan, 88, formerly of Canterbury Towers, 6 Wachusett St., died Friday night in St. Francis Home, 101 Plantation St.
Her husband, Emile Trahan, died in 1981. She leaves three sons, Roger R. Trahan of Worcester, Emile J. Trahan of Cranston, R.I., and Norman J. Trahan of Warwick, R.I.; a twin brother, Amedee Trahan of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in St. Louis de Kent, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Lucien and Catherine (Babineau) Maillet, and lived 45 years in New Bedford and 21 years here.
Mrs. Trahan was a member of Notre Dame des Canadiens Church and a charter member of the Friendly Folks of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She was president of the New Bedford Chapter, Oblate Missionary Society, for 10 years, and oversaw the shipment of tons of clothing to missions in the African nation of Lesotho.
The funeral will be held Tuesday from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a con-celebrated Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame des Canadiens Church, 5 Salem Square. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
