WORCESTER – Callie Joann Clifford, 54, of Worcester, died Sunday, June 23, 2024 at home after a long battle with addiction.
She leaves a daughter, the joy of her life Cailtin Clifford Laporte of New Hampshire, her siblings Bernard D. Clifford Jr. and his wife Robin of Wilbraham, Suzanne Gicas of Worcester, and Amy Kelly and her significant other James Okerberg of Dennis, her nieces and nephews Megan, Ryan, Dylan, Michael, Kira, Brittany, Alexandra, Christian, Brendan, Samantha, and Shannon. Callie was predeceased by her parents Bernard D. Clifford Sr. and Mary (O'Donnell) Clifford, her brother Michael Clifford, her sister Mary Ellen Clifford and her brother-in-law Chris Kelly. She also leaves her brother-in-law Stephen Gicas, sister-in-law and dear friend Dayle Desrosier and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Callie was born in Worcester and graduated from Doherty Memorial High School. She also earned an associate’s degree at Quinsigamond Community College.
Callie was a case worker, assisting people in recovery. She loved hiking, particularly with her daughter but also with those in recovery who shared her love of nature and the sense of peace and revitalization she found in the activity. Callie was a great fan of The Grateful Dead and Phish and enjoyed many genres of music. She would happily train into Boston to catch a band solo or with friends.
Callie was an active participant in recovery program events such as Sober in the Sun, supporting and being supported by the many caring individuals she met in the community. The family wishes to thank those who supported Callie in her journey, including her sponsor Nicole Leblanc, close friends Kelli Mercadante, Niki Irving, Warren Hayes and many more.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
