PAWTUCKET, RI — Caleb Matthew Gillen (he/they), 31, of Providence, RI, formerly of Holland, MA, died Tuesday, February 20, 2023 at home. They were a traveler who lived in many cities throughout their life. Most recently before Providence they lived in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA.
They leave their mother, Marcia Fritsche and her husband Mark Fritsche of Ormond Beach, FL; their father, Elias Gillen of Holland, MA; their siblings, Kasey Gillen, Aodhan Gillen, Elizabeth St. Pierre and Abbey St. Pierre; their grandparents, Virginia Gillen, Walter Gillen, Kathleen Fritsche and Richard Fritsche. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, son of Elias M. Gillen and Marcia (Larson) Fritsche. They graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.
Caleb was an avid writer and very creative. He was sweet, funny, and full of love. They always had a quick joke to lighten any conversation. He loved anime, traveling, D&D, cooking, all things Nintendo, RPG’s and the next adventure. Caleb was working on creating a video game about his home city, Worcester. Caleb was a son, brother, friend to all, writer, artist, lover, and huge goofball. He is very missed and left an impression on all he knew.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Japan Society of Boston (japansocietyboston.org), or your local artist.
