WORCESTER – Benjamin Garcia Batista, 62, of Worcester, died Monday, May 5, 2025 at UMass Memorial – University Campus, after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Graciela Castillo; a son, Jose Garcia and his wife Lydia Vega of Georgia, two daughters, Jessenia Garcia and Glorian Garcia, both of Puerto Rico, a brother, Anibal Garcia and his family of Puerto Rico, a sister, Carmen G. Garcia of Puerto Rico; seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Juanita and Marta Garcia.  He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of Pedro Garcia and Gloria Batista.  He has lived here since 1992.

Benjamin was a construction worker before an injury many years ago   He liked to help people and cared about them.  He was a gentle soul and had a good heart. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, followed by burial at Hope Cemetery.  A calling hour will be Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home before the service.
