SPENCER - Barry M. Stewart, 53, of Spencer, MA passed away April 6, 2021, surrounded by his family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
He leaves his wife, Lisa (Mero) Stewart; daughter, Jana May and son, James Stewart of Worcester MA; father, Leon Stewart of Leicester MA; sister, Brenda Germain and brother, Brian Stewart of Worcester MA; two nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his mother, Diane (Smith) Stewart and sister, Barbara Stewart.
A former resident of Leicester, MA, he was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. He was employed at Irby in West Boylston.
Anyone who knew Barry knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He never missed a dance recital, choral event, baseball, football, or hockey game during his children’s participation. He possessed a witty sense of humor, and those fortunate to be in his company were nearly guaranteed laughter. He especially enjoyed making his daughter laugh.
Barry was an avid hockey fan and spent many years assisting in coaching and watching his son play, as well as supporting his favorite team, the Bruins. He was fond of the outdoors and frequented the Berkshires and White Mountains hiking with his wife. He loved to golf and enjoyed many rounds with friends, especially Jay and Paul.
Barry liked spending time at home and took great pride planting and gardening, as well as hanging out with his best buds, Moo, Dahlia and Obi.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester, followed by a service at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Rescue or the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
