Barbara Ruth (Adams) Murphy

OAKHAM – Barbara Ruth (Adams) Murphy, 95, of Oakham, died Tuesday, August 15, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Her husband, Eugene F. Murphy, died in 1993.  She leaves a daughter, Patricia Gervais of Florida; a grandson, Sean Blood and his wife Angela of Oakham, with whom she lived; two great-grandsons, Michael and Zachary; and three great-great-grandchildren, Vincent, Audrey and Alayna.  She was born in Boston, daughter of Edward G. and Helen P. (Tomolonuis) Adams.  She lived in Worcester most of her life. 

Barbara was a classified ads supervisor for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette for many years.  She was Past President of the St Paul's Cathedral Club, Associate of the Sisters of Mercy, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul‘s Cathedral.  She also was a volunteer at Outreach Foodbank and Abby's House. 

Barbara loved to read, she always felt a friend came to visit when she received a new book or magazine.

Funeral services will be private and in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.   Donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
