Arlene W. (Cosman) Leber Obituary

WORCESTER – Arlene W. (Cosman) Leber, 83, of Worcester, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at UMass Memorial – University Campus, after a long illness.


She leaves her husband of 35 years, Harold P. Leber, two sons, Dwayne Ecklund of Michigan and Daryll Ecklund and his wife Catherine of Atkins, Nevada; a daughter, Kimberly Hults-Spaltensperger and her husband George of Michigan; a sister, Joanne Pepper of Spencer; three grandchildren, Tabitha Ecklund, Jacob and Mackenzie Doherty, all of Michigan; one great-grandchild, Raven Rivera of Michigan; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Ecklund and a brother, William Johndrow Jr.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles E. and Ruth E. (Byrne) Cosman.  She lived in California and Michigan and returned to Massachusetts in 1982.


Arlene was a machine operator making Craftsman Tools at Parker Manufacturing in Worcester.  She was also a cashier at the former El Morocco restaurant in Worcester.  Her favorite job and legacy were being a mother and a Mammy. She was lovingly known as "Mammy" by her grandchildren and the grandchildren of friends. She enjoyed sewing dress-up clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren for any and all occasions, including the King Richard's Faire. She was a leather crafter, an amazing cook and loved travelling, especially to New York City, Virginia and California.  She lived for her family and will be sadly missed.


Funeral services will be private and in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.
