Antonia "Toni" F. (Hamill) Saccocio

WORCESTER – Antonia “Toni” F. (Hamill) Saccocio, 80, of Worcester went to her eternal home, welcomed by Jesus’s loving arms, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, daughter of John J. and Mary “Mollie” V. (McMahon) Hamill. She previously lived in New York, Florida, Maine, and the Virgin Islands.

She is survived by two daughters, Laura (Saccocio) Tomlin and her husband Eric Tomlin of Leominster, MA and Lisa Saccocio and her partner Marty Romstadt of Port St. Lucie, FL; two sisters, Veronica (Hamill) Ferguson of Belfast, Northern Ireland and Jennifer (Hamill) Spano of Allentown, PA; a brother, John Hamill of Victoria, British Colombia; six grandchildren, Eric Tomlin, Jr., Kyle Romstadt, Jacob Devine, Trevor Tomlin, Kayla Romstadt, Madeline Tomlin; nieces and nephews and her devoted and beloved friend, Maryanne Basileo of York, ME, who affectionately gave her the nickname “Rascal”.  She was predeceased by her parents, John J. and Mary V. (McMahon) Hamill.

Toni had been retired for over 20 years, previously working as a private nanny and caregiver.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, going out to eat, celebrations and parties, trips to Mohegan Sun, and going to the movies. Toni was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord with her whole heart. She enjoyed attending church, Christian Women’s retreats, and spending time with her bible study group, who became longtime friends.

She most recently found much joy in spending time with her friend Carol Giller at the Auburn Senior Center, attending movies and learning to meditate.

Since she was aware of her imminent death, she was able to share with her daughters that her greatest wish for them and her grandchildren was that they try to live a happy and peaceful life. We will do our best to honor that.

One of her favorite sayings was: “what’s the alternative?”

A celebration of Toni’s life will be Friday, December 30, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave. Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 at the funeral home.
