Anita C. (Letourneau) Burque

WORCESTER – Anita C. (Letourneau) Burque, 93, of Worcester, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester.

Her husband of 63 years, Joseph H.R. “Ray” Burque, died in 2015.  She leaves four children, Diane Price and her husband Charles of Chelmsford, Richard Burque and his wife Sheila of Spencer, John Burque and his wife Christine of Worcester, and Janet Severance and her husband Thomas of Rutland, a brother, Leo Letourneau of Tampa, FL, three sisters, Gloria Tremblay and her husband Al of Woodstock, CT, Alice Letourneau of Fort Kent, Maine, and Mary Rose Murdock of Hyannis; 9 grandchildren: Jesse, Jeremy, Angela, Dennis, Daniel, Linda, Brittany, William and Holly; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her grandson David Burque and brothers, Hector, William, Arthur, Raymond and Rene Letourneau, two sisters, Yvonne, known in religious life as Sister Mary Carmello of The Sisters of St. Anne in Quebec, and Jeannette Lawrence.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of William C. and Dora M. (Lemay) Letourneau.  She graduated from the former St Annes’s Academy Marlboro MA.

Anita was a data entry clerk at the former Lyman School Westboro MA.

She was a former member of the Holy Name women’s guild and bowling team before moving to Hyannis after retiring.  Anita spent over 30 years enjoying life at Cape Cod before returning to Worcester after Ray’s passing.  She enjoyed bingo and her casino excursions with her sisters.

The family would like to thank Christopher Heights and most recently Christopher House for their compassionate care, as well as her health care providers at Summitt Elder Care.      

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St.  Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.  A calling hour will be from 9:15 - 10:15 am at the church.  Arrangements are in the care of Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christopher Heights, 20 Mary Scano Dr, Worcester, MA 01605.
