WORCESTER – Veli Kalaja, 84, of Worcester, died Saturday, August 25, 2018 at UMass Memorial – University Campus, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Hyqeta (Kadilli) Kalaja, two sons, Alban Kalaja and his wife Elsa of Worcester, and Erjon Kalaja and his wife Suchira Channoi of Worcester; a daughter, Rovena and her husband Arben Rrozhani of Albania; three grandchildren, Arbi and Era Kalaja of Worcester and Dea Rrozhani of Albania; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. He was born in Preza, Albania, son of Ibrahim Kalaja and Dije Deliallisi and has lived here since 2007. He graduated from Tirana University.
Veli was a financial planner in Albania. He was very active, he rode a bicycle every day, was well-dressed, very caring of his children. He was very joyful and a good dancer. Veli was very generous and always helped those in need.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 29 from 10:00 am to noon at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, followed by burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
