WORCESTER – Juan E. Rivera, 73, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, after a long bout with heart disease, surrounded by family.
He leaves his wife, Catherine M. (Fugere) Rivera; a son, Richard McDonald of Worcester, two daughters, Kathleen McDonald and Trisha Fugere, both of Worcester; two brothers, Francisco “Chico” Rivera of Worcester and Miguel “Guelo” Rivera of Worcester; five sisters, Victoria Rivera of Puerto Rico, Carmen Julia of Pennsylvania, Alicia, Lavinia, and Isabel Rivera of Puerto Rico; a grandson, Michael Newman and a granddaughter Serene; many nieces and nephews. He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of Francisco and Margarita (Echevarria) Rivera.
Juan worked for 32 years at Standard Foundry, as well as several other local foundries, as an iron pourer. He will be remembered most for his devotion to his family and his love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, a tradition that will live on through the younger generation that he shared this passion with.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave. Funeral services will be private.
