WORCESTER - Johnnylee F. (Mondville) Adams, 81, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St Mary’s Health Center in Worcester after a long illness.
Her husband Robert R. Adams died in 1999. She leaves a son Kevin and his wife Nancy (Horan) Adams of Holly Springs, NC; a daughter Roberta Adams of Worcester; a granddaughter Madeleine Adams of Holly Springs, NC; a sister-in-law Therese Adams and her husband Guy Bouckaert of Worcester; a brother-in-law Roger Adams and his wife Marion of Worcester; a step-brother, William and Marsha Martin of Monument Beach, MA; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters-in-law. She also leaves behind her best friend of many years Paulette (Fors) Scott of Tampa, FL. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Cecelia and Raymond Mondville. She graduated from the former Commerce High School.
Over the years, Johnnylee was employed by State Mutual, Paul Revere, and a majority of her time at the Catholic Youth Center for the Diocese of Worcester, based out of St. Peter-Marian High School, where she ran the office and coordinated many summer and winter trips for the many CYC church groups. Known as an avid reader, she was well known at Walden Books and Barnes & Noble. She also became involved with a group of retired women who would volunteer at various museums and offices if there was a large project they needed help with. Afterwards, she would pick up some lunch at her favorite spots, Weintraub’s or Coney Island.
Johnnylee enjoyed her time on Cape Cod and Maine where she would feast on steamers and lobsters. Through friendships she made in her volunteer group, she would occasionally take a seniors bus trip to Maine for the day. She also spent some time touring Ireland and Israel. On her trip to Israel, she found herself sitting next to a man one day and had one on the most intellectual conversations she ever had, with Elie Wiesel.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at St. Mary’s Health Center for their care and compassion these past 2 ½ years.
