Danny Abbascia was a lifelong resident of Worcester and died tragically Sunday, October 7, 2018 at home. As the country is experiencing widespread overdoses ranging from white collar to blue collar-working individuals, it shows no prejudice in its taking of life… Our Danny was one of this disease’s victims.
He leaves two brothers, Joseph D. Abbascia of Worcester and Peter J Abbascia and his wife Rhisa of Charlton; a sister Teresa Abbascia-Matthew of Worcester; and nine nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Frances (Doyle) Abbascia of Worcester.
Dan was mechanically inclined and loved to fix cars and trucks, and was a tractor-trailer driver for many years. His passion, though was helping people and he developed a side business as a compassionate caretaker growing medical marijuana and providing it to those terminally ill or with debilitating diseases, to either help with their pain or provide an appetite for someone with no hope. His sister-in-law Judy was one of those he compassionately helped with the insidious disease of cancer. Dan had such a passion in always experimenting to create different strains of oils and edibles to provide what a person needed without the THC high effect. Dan worked exclusively with a doctor to provide what his patients’ needs were. Everyone that knew Dan would tell you of his kind and giving nature. He would help anyone in any way that he could.
He enjoyed summer vacations at the Cape or Maine with his family. He was an avid golfer and movie buff. On a snowy day you would find him with his family watching movies all day with his nephew Anthony and niece Angie, his all-time favorite being the Godfather.
Family and friends will honor and remember Danny’s life by gathering for calling hours which will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4 -6:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester. Burial will be private. The Family asks, instead of flowers or any other gifts please consider helping us defray some of our funeral expenses with a donation on our Go Fund Me page.
