Claire L. (Hammond) Meyer

Claire L. (Hammond) Meyer, 66, of 1000 Route 134, South Dennis, formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday in her home after a long illness.

She leaves her husband, Edwin P. Meyer; three sons, Edwin R. and John S. Meyer, both of Holden, and Paul K. Meyer of Norcross, Ga.; two daughters, Anne L. Meyer of Lexington and Mary C. Hennigan of Worcester; a brother, Robert A. Hammond of Worcester; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer observed their 45th wedding anniversary July 9. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Harlie H. and Eva E. (Granger) Hammond, and lived here all her life before moving to South Dennis in 1987.

She graduated from the former Classical High School in 1942, Boston University and the Real Estate Institute.

Mrs. Meyer was a real-estate broker for many years in Holden and Paxton for Robert Love Real Estate Agency. She was also a marketing representative for Home Inspector of North America. She retired from both positions in 1987.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster and a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She was a member of the Boston University Club of Cape Cod, the Dennis-Yarmouth Newcomers Club, the Worcester Club of Cape Cod and the East Dennis Ladies Aid. She was active for many years in the Worcester area Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Parent-Teacher Association. Mrs. Meyer was a former member of the Boston University Women's Club of Worcester, the Worcester County Board of Realtors, the Worcester Women's Council of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, Worcester Women in Sales, the Worcester Dance Assembly, the Cercle Jeanne Mance and the Worcester Woman's Club.

The funeral on Cape Cod will be held today from Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, with a Mass at 8:45 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stoney Brook Road, Brewster.

The funeral in Worcester will be held Monday from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. Burial will be private.
