Catherine T. (Hackett) Hammond

WORCESTER – Catherine T. (Hackett) Hammond, 87, of Worcester, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Hospital with her family by her side.

Her husband, Robert A. Hammond, died in 2004.  She leaves four sons, James K. Hammond of Worcester, Thomas F. Hammond and his wife Kimberly of Sterling, John S. Hammond and his wife Pam of Sutton, and Paul A. Hammond and his wife Kelly of Templeton, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Helena Hackett of Worcester, many nieces and nephews.  Her son, Robert M. Hammond, died October 8, 2016, and her daughter Joan M. DiMauro died in 2003.  She is also predeceased by three brothers, John, William H. and Paul Hackett, and three sisters, Marie Callahan, Rita Gagnon, and Eileen O’Connell.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of William H. and Catherine A. (Shaughnessy) Hackett. She was the youngest of 7 children.  She graduated from St Peter's High School in 1947.

Catherine worked in the cafeteria at Notre Dame Academy for 15 years, from 1971-1985. She also worked as a cashier at State Mutual / Allmerica Financial for 10 years, from where she retired in 1994.  She enjoyed her time spent with her children and grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 :00 am at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St.   Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.   Calling hours are Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701.
