WORCESTER - Bernard C. Randell, 86, of Worcester, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at home with his family by his side. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Holden, MA, son of the late Chesley and Josephine (Ryan) Randell. He served in the Air Force in Alaska during the Korean War. He was married to Mary A. Smith for 61 years and lived in the Tatnuck Square area where he grew up.
Bernard was a graduate of the former Worcester Junior College and worked at the Worcester Bus Company for over 30 years. He was a "Golden Friend Volunteer" with his brothers for the Jeremiah Inc. Food Pantry. He especially enjoyed his time spent at family gatherings.
Bernard is survived by his wife Mary A. (Smith) Randell and their four children: Robert and Joann Randell of Warwick, NY, James and Jane Randell of Paxton, MA, Paul and Joyce Randell of Paxton, MA, Maryjo Randell and Kenneth Loehle of Worcester, MA; his nine grandchildren, Matthew Mysliwicz, Caitlyn Kewriga, Nicole Mendicino, and Gabrielle, Molly, Hailey, Timothy, Taylor, Jaret Randell; and five great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother Ernest and Mary Jane Randell of Sutton, MA, and brother-in-law Edward Handlin of Saco, Maine, and many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his siblings William, Frederick, and Robert Randell and Priscilla Goodless.
The funeral will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Oct 24 from 4:00-7:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St. Worcester, MA 01609.
