WORCESTER – Athena T. (Komitas) Petsas, 86, of Worcester, died at her son’s home in North Brookfield surrounded by her family.
Her husband, Theodoros K. Petsas, died in 2002. She leaves a son, Konstantinos T. Petsas and his wife Donna of North Brookfield; a daughter, Melpo Petsas of Florida; three sisters, Vasiliki of Greece, Eleni and Toula of New Jersey; eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. She was born in Kalamos Ithakis, Greece, daughter of Argyrios and Efstathia (Gianiotis) Komitas, and lived in Worcester for 56 years.
Mrs. Petsas was a seamstress in the textile industry. She enjoyed cooking, giving to others, and loved her garden. She enjoyed fireworks, loved Cape Cod, and visiting her son and his family and going out on his boat on Lake Lashaway. She loved her friends and returning home to Greece to visit annually.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 20, from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester, with a 10 a.m. service in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.at the funeral home, with a Trisagion service at 5:30.
