WORCESTER – George T. Sedares, 86, of Worcester, died Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Rose Monahan Hospice, Worcester.
His wife of 41 years, Julia (Mosiejczuk) Sedares, died in 2015. He leaves a sister, Lillian Teso of Belmont, sisters-in-law Eleanor Sedares of Worcester and Halina Michajlow of Worcester, many nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, the Richter Family of Shrewsbury. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas J. Sedares, and his brother-in-law George Teso. He was born in Worcester, son of James and Harriet (Lamb) Sedares. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso.
George was a police officer for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles and later a Mass State Trooper. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Newport News. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Shrewsbury. He enjoyed all kinds of music, watching Boston sports teams and watching his nephews play sports. He loved cats, making homemade Margaritas and entertaining his family with jokes and singing songs. Recently, he loved cruising in his red Cadillac convertible.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 23 at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold St., Shrewsbury. A calling hour will be held from 10-11:00 am prior to the service at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Building Fund, c/o St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545 (stnicholaschurch.org), or Worcester Animal Rescue League (worcesterarl.org).
