WORCESTER – Robert M. Hammond, 65, of Worcester, died Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Worcester after a short courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves a son, Timothy Hammond of Worcester; a daughter, Tricia Hammond and her significant other Patrick Queeney of Albuquerque, NM; his mother, Catherine T. (Hackett) Hammond of Worcester; four brothers, James K. Hammond of Worcester, Thomas F. Hammond and his wife Kimberly of Sterling, John S. Hammond and his wife Pam of Sutton, and Paul A. Hammond and his wife Kelly of Templeton.  He also leaves two grandchildren, Justin and Corey Hammond of Worcester; his former wife, Sandra Hammond of Worcester; many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  He is predeceased his father, Robert A. Hammond, and his sister, Joan M. DiMauro. He was born in Worcester and graduated from Holy Name High School.

Robert was a route salesman for Hostess Foods and a member of the Teamsters.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He enjoyed working out at the Planet Fitness gym, golfing and other sports.  He enjoyed gambling, the Patriots, and trips to the beach with his family.  He was a devoted son.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester.  A service will be held during the calling hours at 7 pm and military honors will be presented at 7:45.  Burial with be private.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701 (https://donate.cancer.org)
