AUBURN – Maurice R. Brown, 95, of Auburn, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Life Care Center in Auburn.

His wife of 68 years, Mildred A. (Kaliszewski) Brown, died in November, 2015.  He leaves a nephew, Paul Tolka of Colorado, three sisters-in-law, Doris Benoit of Maine, Evelyn Steele of Worcester, and Pauline Rana of Shrewsbury; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Olive Tolka, a nephew Francis Tolka and a niece Maryanne Gill. He was born in Worcester, son of Rudolph C. and Flora (Daignault) Brown and has lived in Auburn for many years.  He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.

Maurice attended the University of Missouri while in the Navy.  He served in World War II aboard mine sweepers in the South Pacific.  He was honorably discharged as a Chief Motor Machinist Mate.  He later worked for the City of Worcester as a motor equipment repairman for 32 years, retiring in 1986.  He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club, the VFW Post 7556 in Rochdale, and the American Legion Post 201 in Worcester.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, Worcester is in care of arrangements.
