WORCESTER – Marie F. (Vaillancourt) Chene, 74, of Worcester, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Care One at Millbury surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

She leaves her children; Monique Herman and her husband Thomas of Worcester, Jean Paul Chene and his wife Sarah of Ashby, and Andre Chene of Worcester; her brothers, James Vaillancourt and his wife Susan of Marlborough, Stephen Pappas and his wife Linda of Northborough; two sisters, Catherine LaJeunesse of Marlborough and Jeannine Seymour and her husband Nick of Maine. She also leaves her grandson Santo Dellaquila, two granddaughters, Robin Stillman and her husband Griffin and Rebecca Chene; two great grandchildren, Grayson and Grady Stillman; her cousin Ray Wheeler of NH; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son Robert, step-father George S. Pappas, her former husband Alfred B. Chene and her brother-in-law William LaJeunesse. She was born in Marlborough, daughter of Edward and Lumina (Turgeon) Vaillancourt.

Marie graduated from Marlborough High School. She attended Hair Dressing School and worked many years as a hairdresser. In addition, she worked as an activities director at both Lincoln Nursing Home and St Francis Home, where she was able to incorporate her love of arts & crafts into her everyday life.  Marie also worked in retail for many years and ultimately retired from her position at Dress Barn.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Care One at Millbury for their amazing help.

Calling hours will be Friday September 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Avenue, Worcester.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday October 1, 2016 at 10:00 am in Christ The King Church, 1052 Pleasant St, Worcester.  Marie’s Mass will take place downstairs in the church hall due to work being done in the church.
