WORCESTER - Jean Paul "John" Belisle, 72, of 485 Grove St., formerly of Spencer, died yesterday in The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts - Memorial.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Juliette Y. (Lamoureux) Belisle; three daughters, Michele B. Casello of Holden, and Lise M. Magnuson and Claudette A. Belair, both of Millbury; three brothers, Arthur G. Belisle and Robert J. Belisle, both of Worcester, and Maurice A. Belisle of Safety Harbor, Fla.; two sisters, Lucille M. McSherry and Germaine Seibold, both of Worcester; seven grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was born in Leicester, son of Narcisse A. and Anna M. (Robert) Belisle.

Mr. Belisle was a pipe-fitter and journeyman 40 years for J.G. Lamotte Co., and also Lynch Co. and other area contractors before retiring in 1984.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and saw action in the South Pacific in Tarawa, the Gilbert Islands, Saipan, and the Marianas Islands.

He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. He played on the All-City football team in 1940.

Mr. Belisle was a member of the Second Marine Division Association, the Greendale Retired Mens Club, Local No. 4 of the Plumbers and Pipe-Fitters Union, and St. Joan of Arc Church.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Holy Rosary-St. Mary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester, 01605.
